Tuition and Fee Refunds

Students agree to pay all applicable tuition and fees by accepting the Financial Responsibility Agreement prior to registering for classes each semester.  Students who are not planning to attend the semester must drop their course registration as outlined in the Financial Responsibility Agreement.

Dropping Course Registration

Dropping course registration is the action taken by a student during the drop period to discontinue enrollment in a course or courses. For instructions on how to drop courses, visit the Office of the University Registrar.

The drop deadline for each course is available in the ‘My Courses’ tab in TUPortal. In addition, the drop/add deadline is published by the Office of the University Registrar on their Academic Calendar.

Students who drop all courses in accordance with the drop deadline will receive a 100% tuition and fee adjustment. Students will be financially relieved of all tuition and fee charges associated with the dropped courses. 

Students who do not drop their courses by the drop deadline will remain financially liable for all courses.

Withdrawing Course Registration

Withdrawing course registration is the action taken by a student to discontinue enrollment in a course or courses after the drop deadline but prior to the withdrawal deadline. For instructions on how to drop courses, visit the Office of the University Registrar.

The withdrawal deadline for each course is available in the ‘My Courses’ tab in TUPortal. In addition, the withdrawal deadline is published by the Office of the University Registrar on their Academic Calendar.

Unlike with a drop, students who withdraw from classes after the drop deadline will remain financially liable for full payment of all tuition and fee charges.

Excused Withdrawal

Undergraduate and graduate students may petition for an excused withdrawal due to a serious documented extenuating circumstance that prohibits continued enrollment in all courses for the term. If eligible, the refund amount is calculated in accordance with the University's refund policy based on the last known date of participation in or attendance at an academically related activity.
