Credit Card Processing

Temple University staff who accept and process credit and debit card payments must properly safeguard any associated personal identifiable information during transactions.

The Credit Card Handling Policy outlines the University rules and procedures for the proper handling of credit and debit card transactions, including the responsibilities of University employees who process credit card transactions or maintain cardholder information.

These rules and procedures are intended to assure timely handling of credit card transactions and aid in the safeguarding and proper disposal of credit card information. Failure to follow the policy will result in the loss of credit card acceptance and/or processing privileges.

Select Security Ethics Certification for the PDF document to be completed to be granted permission to accept and process credit card. In addition, select Credit Card PowerPoint for the presentation that needs to first be reviewed prior to be granted permission for credit card processing.

Obtaining a Credit Card Terminal

If your department requires a credit card terminal, contact the Bursar’s Office at or . Below are the types of credit card terminals that are available from our credit card processor, JP Morgan Chase:

  1. DX8000 - $499
  2. DX4000 - $399
  3. Desk and Move 5000 - Desk $299; Move $399

In addition to selecting the credit card terminal for your department, you will also need to complete a Merchant ID Information Form.
